Intrepid and the Space Race Intrepid Museum An educator will discuss the historic Mercury-Atlas 7 and Gemini III missions that took place during the Space Race, emphasizing Intrepid's role as the primary recovery vessel for both important NASA missions. Students will get a tour of the Space Shuttle Pavilion, home of the space shuttle Enterprise, allowing them to explore and learn more about space exploration history. In this online session students will discover how to find cardinal directions and orient themselves using the sky, and how people have used the stars for timekeeping throughout history. We will discuss prominent constellations in the sky, learn where to find the planets, moon, and sun, and discuss seasonal sights. Cree constellations and stories will help us understand the map of the Northern sky, as well as prominent winter and summer constellations. Then they use it to explore the fascinating science of snow crystals and how they form! Then we explore the three states of matter and act out the water cycle.
