Land Animals of Nunavut Unikkaarvik Visitor Centre Iqaluit Get ready to learn about the land animals of Nunavut and a few Inuktitut words along the way. You will see fun and exciting animal photography paired with lots of facts about the animals of Nunavut. The presentation runs 30 mins but can go longer with Q&A. This is an interactive session where we encourage student questions and learning Inuktitut words. Creatures with Wings and Crawly Things Royal Botanical Gardens Bee, spider, sowbug, millipede. Only one of these is an insect. Do you know what the three main characteristics of insects are? By examining an array of live creatures, we'll discover that answer! We will also learn an insect action song or draw an insect and then explore insects in different habitats while answering your students' questions. Science & Environmental Studies Head in the Clouds ACTUA Actua is Canada's leading science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) youth outreach organization. ACTUA programs are focused on hands-on learning. In this activity, participants will learn about the types of clouds, creating their own cloud-spotting guide. They will then learn about precipitation by making their own snow and rain models using chemistry. In this session, students will explore where levers, gears, and pulleys are used in everyday life. They'll assemble gear trains and belt drives, examining how these mechanisms work. Students will also investigate how levers and pulleys lift objects and will face the challenge of organizing their systems to lift loads as efficiently as possible, applying their newfound understanding in practical ways.
