Add-A-Tudez President Joshua Hughes, a roller coaster enthusiast, will demonstrate how building virtual rides required him to understand real-world STEM and engineering principles. Connecting Video Games, Culture and History Through Fry Bread Trevor & Josh Hughes received a Samuel Connected North Youth Leadership microgrant to create an online video show, called 8 Bit Bites, which teaches culinary skills to gamers. Brothers Trevor and Josh Hughes are merging culinary arts, cultural education, and digital media in their online series "8 Bit Bites," which teaches cooking through the lens of gaming culture. Their latest focus is Fry Bread, a dish with profound historical and cultural significance for Indigenous communities. The series not only highlights the dish's culinary aspects but also aims to connect past and present by bridging generations through gaming and food. This project allows Trevor and Josh to honour Fry Bread's legacy and enhance their audience's understanding of its cultural importance. Beyond cooking, "8 Bit Bites" serves as a platform to celebrate Indigenous resilience and explore the intersection of culture, history, and culinary traditions. The show integrates historical narratives with interactive media, making learning engaging and immersive while fostering a deeper appreciation of Indigenous cultures.
