Physics & Engineering in Video Games Add-A-Tudez Entertainment In this session, students will connect with Add-A-Tudez Entertainment Company, a Montana-based crew certified by PlayStation and Xbox, to learn how games like LittleBigPlanet and Dreams can teach real-life engineering. Add-A-Tudez President Joshua Hughes, a roller coaster enthusiast, will demonstrate how building virtual rides required him to understand real-world STEM and engineering principles. Connecting Video Games, Culture and History Through Fry Bread Trevor & Josh Hughes received a Samuel Connected North Youth Leadership microgrant to create an online video show, called 8 Bit Bites, which teaches culinary skills to gamers. Brothers Trevor and Josh Hughes are merging culinary arts, cultural education, and digital media in their online series "8 Bit Bites," which teaches cooking through the lens of gaming culture. Their latest focus is Fry Bread, a dish with profound historical and cultural significance for Indigenous communities. By collaborating with Blackfeet Science & Environmental Studies 64 Watch the series on YouTube and check out Josh's Connected North sessions below: chefs and Elders, they explore the intricate process of making Fry Bread while delving into its origins and its role as a symbol of resistance against colonization. The series not only highlights the dish's culinary aspects but also aims to connect past and present by bridging generations through gaming and food. This project allows Trevor and Josh to honour Fry Bread's legacy and enhance their audience's understanding of its cultural importance. Beyond cooking, "8 Bit Bites" serves as a platform to celebrate Indigenous resilience and explore the intersection of culture, history, and culinary traditions. The show integrates historical narratives with interactive media, making learning engaging and immersive while fostering a deeper appreciation of Indigenous cultures.
