Dear Educators, Welcome to Connected North and the 2024-2025 Session Menu! We are so pleased that you are taking part in this year's program—last year, there were over 1,100 active teachers across the network who booked and participated in a session, reaching over 33,000 students. Connected North is committed to continuing to meet the needs of the students in the communities we serve, and that in large part stems from our ability to support you, their teacher, with tools for success. Here you will find a brief summary of How To Navigate this document. The Role of the School Lead Your school is supported by a dedicated Connected North School Lead whose goal is to collaborate and co-plan meaningful, experiential learning interactions based on your classroom needs. This includes working with you individually to map a scope and sequence of sessions highlighted in this Session Menu, and to fulfill requests that may not be featured. The School Lead will also be present for each session and act as a host and facilitator between you, your students and the content providers. Sessions by Subject The document is organized by subject area. However, many of the sessions have been specifically designed and curated with an interdisciplinary approach and may be suitable across themes. The content providers are onboarded with a principles- driven lens that honours and celebrates the identities and lived realities of students in the North— this includes creating content that accommodates many different learner profiles and sessions that are modifiable across age and stage. Grade levels have been intentionally omitted for this purpose. Sessions are also mapped according to Well-Being indicators, explained on pages 10-11. Curriculum Aligned When requesting a session, your School Lead will work with you to determine learning goals, and suggest activities that support these outcomes by communicating with the content providers to tailor each experience. It is important to note that the Session Menu is a living document with a repertoire of content that is constantly growing. The Connected North team has extensive knowledge of K - 12 curriculum and continues to work with your provincial/territorial outcomes to map content. Session Credits Connected North sessions are booked using credits. Educators begin the year with a credit allocation already in your account, to be spent towards requesting and booking sessions. Each session costs a different amount of credits, depending on associated fees and material costs. Additional credits can be earned, purchased, or fundraised for. To learn more about the credit system, visit help.connectednorth.org or log on to your teacher platform in the Connected North app! 12
