Wake Up Mental Health RIDHWANLAI BADMOS Ridhwanlai Badmos is a multi-hyphenate activist. A diversity, equity, and inclusion advocate, Loran Scholar, and organizer of the 4500-person Beyond The Horizon Youth Summit, Ridhwanlai is constantly seeking new ways to make his communities happier and healthier. His Sprout Ideas project was the expansion of Wake Up Mental Health (WUMH), his non-profit focused on promoting youth mental well-being through workshops on the benefits of reading, writing, exercise, and art on mental health. The Sprout Ideas Fellowship helped Ridhwanlai expand the program to reach over 400 students at local schools, deepen partnerships with local schools and libraries, and create programming and resources to help create an open dialogue about mental health. "Wake Up Mental Health has made significant strides in promoting good health and well-being within our community... WUMH's outcomes contribute holistically to the advancement of various SDGs, with a primary focus on promoting mental health and well-being, fostering quality education, building partnerships, and addressing inequalities in access to mental health resources. The interconnected nature of the SDGs allows our project to have a broader impact on sustainable development and community well-being." Ridhwanlai has a clear vision for the future of WUMH. "Looking forward, Wake Up Mental Health aims to expand its reach to neighboring communities and establish an online platform for broader accessibility. We're also looking forward to building chapters within schools but that's still some time away. We envision creating a sustainable model that empowers local leaders to adapt the program to their unique contexts. By continuing to prioritize partnerships and social innovation, we aspire to contribute not only to SDG 3 (Good Health & Well-being) but also to interconnected goals such as SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals)."
