#Decarbonize
2022
In the #Decarbonize program, children ages
12-19 spent four months engaging in online,
collaborative learning on a dedicated virtual
community platform and exchanging ideas
during a series of interactive video conferences,
exploring the local, regional, national, and
global intersections of climate change and
mitigation.
The fall component of the #Decarbonize
program culminates in a youth-authored
report, synthesizing the thoughts, opinions,
and actions of all the participating youth
generated over the months of collaboration.
This year, over 100 children
(under 18) from 5 continents
met virtually over a 72 hour
period to co-author the Global
Child Climate Manifesto.
In the coming years, the Commit2Act
app will be integrated into the
program to help partner schools
showcase their actions and impacts!
The program as a whole
included over 30,000 child &
youth leaders, ages 12-19, in 80
schools, from over 60 countries.
From all these contributors, 27
youth and 13 teachers,
representing 5 continents came
together in Dahab, Egypt, at
UNFCCC COP27.
