Waves of Change is a collaboration between
Oceanwise, TakingITGlobal, Greenlearning
and The Centre for Global Education.
Funded by Environment and Climate Change
Canada through the Environmental Damages
Fund, the program seeks to provide learning
opportunities for Canadian youth and to
make clear connections between climate
change, ocean health, and daily actions to
reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
TakingITGlobal's component of the program
is to develop an updated version of the
Commit2Act action tracking system.
This tool calculates impact estimates of C02
saved based on the actions recorded and
gamifies the process of taking action for our
planet and other Sustainable Development
Goals.
Waves of Change
2022
67,000+ actions have been
recorded on Commit2Act to date!
21,739 lines of code have been
developed for our new platform!
Through a collaboration with
UBC's Cloud Innovation Centre
and support from AWS, a new
version of the platform has been
developed which harnesses AI
visual recognition to validate
images uploaded as impact
reports.
Testing and improvements to
the system are underway with
launch planned for early 2023.
