4) Advocacy & Awareness Our project used black joy as a form of resistance. We launched a group dance challenge with African choreographer and dance partners in Kenya, to help connect Black youth in Canada with their African roots, and dance culture, but also to use dance as a way to have advocacy for the importance of protecting and cherishing Black lives. [...] It was amazing to be involved in having youth globally rally around youth in Canada through dance to help address anti- Black racism in Canada in a fun way. Project Activities & Impacts We believe that the information and insights that we collected during the focus groups held in the first stage of the project had a significant impact for increasing knowledge and awareness of the struggles of young people experiencing homelessness and unstable housing [...] We hope to leverage these insights in the second and third phases of our project to measure whether free transit results in measurable changes in participants' quality of life. Thinking back, my first experiences with pollinator activism were quite unwelcoming ones. I felt inspired and had many questions, but I didn't feel comfortable reaching out to professionals online. I recall nearly every pollinator activism club being directed by an older man, and as a fifteen-year-old girl, I didn't feel safe talking to these strangers online. I didn't know where to start, where to get the suitable materials or who to talk to. Inspired by my personal struggle, I [created a] project on how to promote pollinator conservation and advocate for the inclusion of women in pollinator activism [...] Not only did this project allow me to make pollinator conservation more accessible to women, but it also allowed me to gain a greater understanding of pollinator conservation and feminism blended in a nuanced way. "Antibodies Treatment Research": wrote & published a manuscript highlighting potential treatment options to combat COVID-19 "Treaty Talks": hosted online teach-ins for youth on treaty education "LGBTQIA2S+ Figures Poster Exhibits": designed posters for the community that highlight important, lesser-known LGBTQIA2S+ figures Project Leaders developed projects to advocate and raise awareness for important issues & causes affecting individuals in their local and global community.
