3) Cultural Connection & Celebration My goal was to make this exhibition an immersion of Palestinian heritage and culture. To be immersed in Palestinian culture is to be immersed in all aspects of Palestinian identity; including art, music, sweets and most importantly, community; including Palestinian artists, staff and volunteers [...] The event, which drew over 500 people, lasted more than five hours. We were able to create a sense of community among people of all ethnicities, cultures, and identities both outside and inside the Palestinian diaspora. We planned a commemoration for African Liberation Day, the first of its kind in our city and possibly province [...] I think it is important for us to also come together to celebrate and share joy and laughter. It doesn't always need to be a tragedy that brings us Africans together, we must also come together for good vibes and to celebrate our wonderfully rich and resilient cultures. I am just so proud of how we came together as a community to put on this event because it was truly a collective project and we all took joy in seeing how successful it was. I believe that the greatest impact was inspiring a sense of appreciation for our French backgrounds and a motivation to continue practicing our French. We rarely take the opportunity to speak French with one another and this event provided the space for people to practice in a social setting. "Food & Cultural Tradition": directed a cooking class on traditional Mongolian dumplings & Mongolian culture "Youth Beading Group": organized a beading workshop for youth in the community led by Elders "Somali Youth Network": created a space for Somali youth to connect & build relationships with one another Project Leaders planned projects to celebrate their culture & create a stronger sense of cultural connection in their community.
