57 # R I S I N G Y O U T H C O M M U N I T Y I M P A C T V O L . 2 J ean-Claude Nguyen accidentally clicked on a suggestion on YouTube for a film called More Than Only, a film about a young gay man learning how to love himself and accept love from another, despite the disapproval of his father. After watching the film, Jean-Claude wrote a review in the comments section, which the director/producer responded to with the invitation to connect further. After connecting via email, Jean-Claude and the director decided to work together to continue and expand the film into a three- part series. After sharing the short films for free on YouTube, the films now have over 30,000 views with immense positive feedback. This project has led to another fundraising campaign so that more episodes can be produced and shared widely. "Being a member of a sexual minority (LGBT), a visible minority (Asian), and a linguistic minority (Francophone), my participation in this production will provide an opportunity to inspire other young members of its minorities where sexual orientation is often a taboo subject in my community of Iqaluit, Nunavut to pursue their aspirations, but also to create an environment conducive to discussion of these issues."
