As Alain puts it, "People who do not have the financial means could find themselves without resources at their disposal and those with more means had this huge advantage of having them." In an attempt to close this inequity, Alain created a resource library for students at the Faculty of Education. With the funding from the #RisingYouth grant, Alain was able to purchase many children's books from a local bookstore and even recruited a carpentry student to design and build the bookshelf. "An important element of my project is its infinite continuity," Alain shares. "Even though this was created during a pandemic period when few students were accessing the campus, it is reassuring to know that this library will be able to reduce the financial worry of students for decades to come." ...it is reassuring to know that this library will be able to reduce the financial worry of students for decades to come." Building A Community Library Alain Lavoie A special thank you to Fédération des étudiantes et étudiants du Campus universitaire de Moncton (FÉÉCUM) for sharing the #RisingYouth grant opportunity with Alain to make this project possible. A bio from Alain that we published as he was a panelist for one of our events!
