T he COVID-19 pandemic has upended the lives of so many people, but those living and working in long-term care facilities have been especially impacted. Marwa Khanafer saw just how difficult the working conditions and was determined to put together a volunteer initiative to support frontline workers. Her project provided them with meals, desserts, and encouragement cards. She also wanted to lighten the atmosphere by providing music. "Our greatest success achieved through this project was the fact that we were able to make the health care workers and the elders happy," Marwa shares. "Even if it was only for one or two hours, seeing them sing and dance with us was the most important element because we were able to make them forget about this disease for a few moments." A special thank you to Justice Femme for sharing the #RisingYouth grant opportunity with Marwa to make this project possible.
