SSLP GRANTS Aer a successful first year, our participation in the Government of Canadaʼs Supports for Student Learning (SSLP) program was renewed for the 2021–2022 school year. In total, we were granted $3.5M over 2 years to provide 2,000 personal devices to Grade 11 & 12 First Nations, Métis and Inuit students to support their continued education. "Having a Laptop to access other learning possibilities was something that I was concerned about while pursuing post-secondary education. A Windows OS laptop will not only open up a world of possibilities while at school, but will also allow me to access some things that I would not previously been able to do, such as downloading soware to improve my coding skills as well as being able to access digital notes and more." - Student, Inuvik, NWT LANGUAGE RESOURCES Supporting schools to bring Indigenous languages into the classroom is a privilege for our team. We delivered 89 "Native Language Studies" classes, working with local Indigenous language teachers to extend their reach to new schools. We were also able to work in collaboration with Grade 7 students in the Rainy River District School Board to create a 2022-2023 calendar that features Ojibwe words and teachings that relate to the different cycles of the moon. In addition, we have commissioned Dene artist Nicole Josie to produce over 40 illustrations to support language learning materials that have also been extended to assist other nations who are involved in Connected North. 16
