The purpose of this activity is for students to have examples of self-care for the latter part of the lesson. Inform students that next, they will hear from Indigenous educator, Christine M'Lot. ACQUIRE: CHRISTINE M'LOT'S FIRESIDE CHAT VIDEO https://www.firesidechats.ca/video/christine-mlot CHRISTINE M'LOT (she/her/hers) is an award-winning Anishinaabe educator and curriculum developer from Winnipeg, Manitoba. She has experience working with children and youth in multiple capacities including child welfare, children's disAbility services and Indigenous family programming. She currently is teaching high school at the University of Winnipeg Collegiate. Christine is also the co-founder of Red Rising Education, and works to create Indigenous educa- tion resources for teacher Play Christine M'Lot's Fireside Chat Video or have students read the textbook chapter. In her interview, Christine talks about her Medicine Wheel Goal Setting activity, which students will be led through in the next part of the lesson! APPLY: MEDICINE WHEEL GOAL SETTING Show students Christine's Youtube mini-series "Medicine Wheel Goal Setting". This is a three- part mini-series that will take students through the history of the Medicine Wheel, how to use the Medicine Wheel to set goals and goal setting tips from the field of positive psychology. Hand out the "Medicine Wheel Goal Setting" template so students can do the activity as they watch the videos. Christine discusses mental health, including the dierence between healthy and unhealthy coping strategies. You're encouraged to follow along and create your own goals. Tip: As students are thinking of goals in the "Emotions" category, refer them to the examples they gave in the activating activity.
