C O N N E C T E D N O R T H : A J O U R N E Y O F T R A N S F O R M AT I O N & W E L L- B E I N G 8 2018-19 School Year Nearly 8,000 individual students were involved in Connected North programming in 2018-19 with 760 sessions delivered (an average of 21 per week) to dozens of schools across Canada's North. 2019-20 School Year The program in 2019-20 expanded to serve 54 schools, reflecting increasing demand for services, engagement with communities, and curricular opportunities. Among the most substantial areas of development was the expanded role and engagement of First Nations providers. More than 40 Indigenous mentors, educators, elders, and leaders contributed to lessons within the Connected North curriculum in 2019. 2020-21 School Year In 2020-21, the program grew significantly to serve more than 100 schools and 20,000 students. Expansion was primarily across the territories, through partnership with the Government of Nunavut to serve all 44 schools in the territory, and endorsement by the Yukon Government, growing reach from 3 to 21 schools. At the end of February 2021, the program surpassed 2,000 live, interactive learning sessions delivered during the school year. 56 First Nations, Métis and Inuit content providers have delivered over 600 Connected North sessions.
