M U S I C M A K E R S 1 0 1 39 This is an example of end rhymes: I pray to God because sometimes I feel the odds against me. I put my soul into the songs and tell them my heart is empty. This is my story. And trust when I say is far from ending. Will I make it to the top? I guess it's all depending. Multi-syllable rhymes are more complex and can be achieved by adding language to describe the word that is your end rhyme. If you're struggling with writer's block, try making lists of words and lists of description words. Match the words up and see what works. In the video, Dakota offers an isolation rap to illustrate a multi-syllable rhyme. With more ideas to help your songwriting, you're well on your way to being ready to record your music. LESSON 4: RECORDING When Dakota first started doing hip hop, he had a microphone and a computer and didn't even know how to plug the microphone into the computer. He also had an interface which made it a little bit more confusing. This lesson focuses on getting started with recording and getting what you need to build your recording equipment from scratch. WHAT DO YOU REALLY NEED? Get: a USB microphone that plugs right into your computer. Skip: the interface for your recording software. You don't have to worry too much about END RHYMES: Rhymes at the end of a phrase INTERNAL RHYMES: Rhymes inside of the bar
