LESSON 2: AUDITIONS In this lesson, Anna Lambe shares her best audition tips about how to set up for a good audition. This lesson couldn't come at a better time especially with the eyes on Indige- nous film and television and how many casting calls are happening for different projects all across North America. Currently, the pandemic has meant that all auditions happen through self-tape rather than in audition rooms. HERE ARE ANNA'S TIPS: Setup for your audition tape is really, really important. In Anna's video lesson she notes that the lighting is a bit harsh on her features and the colour behind her isn't ideal by some people's standards (they would prefer white, blue or something creamy. Follow Instructions Look at the requirements in your documentation. Typically they will say if they want waist up, shoulder up or hips up to be captured in your video. Set Yourself Up To Be Seen Have a clear camera so the casting director can see your eyes and your emotions. Use a stand for your camera so your video is steady and not shaky. Sound Sound is really important. They need to be able to: • hear you clearly • understand what you're saying • Listen to the emotions you're putting into your words • Take note of you emphasize and don't emphasize Sound check! Make sure: • your mic is clear • it works well
