S A R A C O R N T H W A I T E 88 "My number one go-to is nature. When I'm struggling with a topic, I'll get it. Slow motion. I'll get really pretty angles. I'll use my cell phone, audio recorder to put it outside in the Bush with me and just get natural sound so that I can get some birds, some trees, some water, you bring all of those pieces together and you can tell some of the most beautiful stories." LESSON 4: INTERVIEWS Lesson 4 is about Interviews and Sara talks about how to set them up just by being cre- ative with what you have. You will need at minimum one camera and one microphone. Your camera could be: • Your iphone • Your Webcam • An actual camera If you have lighting, that's even better. The next best option is two cameras, one microphone and lighting. "Two cameras is just super, super ideal because it creates more freedom and flexibility when you're editing." HOW TO SET UP A TWO CAMERA INTERVIEW 1. The first camera you're setting up is your main camera, your A cam. Take your main camera and you set it up as your main interview shot. 2. If you're doing something super corporate stick to a medium shot. 3. If you're doing a documentary or art or something beautiful, you get to frame it. 4. Your second camera can be a little bit more playful, a little bit tighter and more profile-like. Go ahead, get creative with this process.
