1 WE'RE SO EXCITED THAT YOU HAVE THIS BOOK IN YOUR HANDS! We launched our Create to Learn program in 2017, and it's been an honour to work with youth and students from more than 100 Indigenous communities on building their digital skills to date. Through partnerships with imagineNATIVE, Chiefs of Ontario, Nunavut Sivuniksavut, the Students Commission, Canadian Roots Exchange, and the Inclusive Design Institute, we held in person training with dozens of amazing First Nations, Métis and Inuit creatives as trainers. When COVID-19 forced school closures and limited travelling, gears started turning in our heads. How could we continue sharing skills with those now learning at home, and how could we provide much-needed work to the creators who were now unable to travel and teach as they had hoped? We launched Create to Learn@Home, hiring more than 50 creators to develop train- ing videos to share their skills with the world. In the last 9 months, the program has exceeded our expectations, with more than 300 videos attracting over 100,000 views. We've worked to make the videos as accessible as possible - from launching Apple TV, Fire TV and Roku apps for TV users to shipping USB keys pre-loaded with the content to dozens of schools and community partners in the North. And now, we're pleased to present this book in print to you, featuring these amazing creative talents. We hope you enjoy the skills and knowledge they have to share!
