Funded by the Government of Canada under the Canada
Service Corps program, this youth-led micro-grant
program funded innovative projects to support youth in
turning ideas into action to help build a brighter future.
From sports, music, sex education, cultural revitalization
and even a day at the Zoo, youth across Canada were
supported in making their dreams come true in new ways.
Across nations and generations, important conversations
took place. The youth, supported by #RisingYouth
grants, created opportunities for connection in their
communities and beyond. 80% of projects were
led by youth of underrepresented communities.
" I learned that there needs
to be a voice for youth to be
able to lead... Even though
I'm not an elder, a youth can
keep traditions going."
Carly Chartier, Moccasin Making
Workshop, Selkirk Manitoba
" We realized that small actions
can make a difference too."
Melissa Kerik, Helping Hands Soup
Kitchen, Brandon, Manitoba
" When you reach your goal
and see your project through
completion, there is a
remarkable feeling of success;
you're playing a part in making
your community a better
place. I feel everyone should
have a chance to feel that!"
Mira Buckle, The Digital Citizenship Project,
Cornerbrook, Newfoundland and Labrador
