Zeal Hamilton launched a new pilot
program which aimed to empower
and create a space for young people
to address and document social
issues in their community through
the medium of film. This new virtual
program provided young creatives
a space for storytelling by creating
mini-documentaries on "What
young people want and need in
times like these" in response to the
COVID 19 pandemic.
By using a project-based learning
curriculum structure, the young
creatives were provided the tools
and resources that allowed them
to identify and lean into different
leadership roles to take full ownership
of the program. To support all the
participants with their role in the
project, the Zeal Hamilton team used
instant messaging to keep in touch
and share important information
such as equipment pick-up dates and
times, filming timelines, etc.
Furthermore, the Zeal Hamilton team
has created spaces and opportunities
that allowed the participants to
provide peer support and feedback
to one another and succeed in their
assigned roles in the project.
