E M B R A C I N G V I R T U A L L E A R N I N G 26 The COVID 19 pandemic challenged many organizations on how they can continue to engage and inspire their young people. To address this and to continue to empower young voices, the Boys & Girls Club of Green Bay team supported the Creative Crew team in dictating the direction of the program's curriculum. The Creative Crew team decided to focus on producing a collaborative media piece for their community. The idea of their #LeanOnMe mural project came to life through online ideation and discussion, and collaborative design sessions. Over the summer months, the Creative Crew team connected virtually three times a week for three hours to ideate and design the mural. Each team member had the freedom to determine their level of commitment to the project so that it did not interfere with other priorities, such as work and school. Each team member was also equipped with one-on-one support and individualized mentorship from the Boys & Girls Club of Green Bay team. Once the design was finalized, the members of Creative Crew met in-person, following health and safety guidelines, and worked outdoors to create a portable mural. As a result, the #LeanOnMe portable mural has traveled through the Green Bay community, highlighting how art and creativity can be used as a form of uncovering the veil of anti-Blackness racism and the quest for equity for all, while continuing the dialogue and action of the #BlackLivesMatter movement.
