The COVID 19 pandemic required the
staff members of Yunuén de la Mora
Academia de Teatro Musical to not only
alter their regular programming but
also to add new sessions to the roster
of classes that focused on supporting
their young creatives with mental and
physical well-being. The primary goal
of the Academy is to continue to be a
creative outlet and source of well-being
and inspiration for all of their young
creatives amidst uncertainties.
To continue to provide space to inspire
creativity, the young creatives from the
Academy had the option to choose the
workshops and sessions they wanted
to be part of. This choice allowed
the young creatives to choose their
own creative path and to contribute
to the collaborative audio book in
a way that was most meaningful to
them. Based on this interest, each
young artist was assigned to a team
to support with completing a section
of the collaborative audio book, which
explores the theme and importance of
inclusivity in their community.
Twice a week, for 60 minutes, the
young artists virtually connected for
the sessions and collaborated with
their assigned team for the audio book.
Furthermore, the young creatives from
the Academy invited youths from other
local community organizations, Sagrado
Corazon de Jesus and Fundación
Familiar Infantil, to contribute to the
audio book through ideation of the
storyline and sketches of characters.
