The Perspective Youth Media Project
collaboration between StoryCenter
and HANDY incorporated two
components to amplify the voices of
young creatives: a PhotoVoice project,
and Digital Storytelling. These two
streams provided opportunities for
the young creatives to take the lead in
determining how they wanted to share
their unique experiences and insights
into the Children's System of Care.
In response to the COVID 19 pandemic,
both of these programs were
redesigned to be delivered virtually
with different cohorts of participants.
To support the young creatives to
continue their learning, HANDY
provided all of the young creatives
with the technology they needed to
successfully complete their projects.
The participants met virtually for twice
a week for 120 minute long sessions,
with exercises and activities to do on
their own time.
In addition to this, the young creatives
were provided with one-on-one
time with StoryCenter's facilitator
for personalized guidance on their
projects. Once their stories were
complete, they were showcased
during a virtual premiere and are now
permanently hosted online.
