There will also be forward looking focus, seeing how the world is working to address food insecurity and what we can expect to see in the next 5-10 years. Students will be able to discuss the contributors to food insecurity, its various implications, and strategies to address it. GLOB A L SOUNDSC A PES with Michigan Science Center Through high quality images, audio files, and live presentation, Global Soundscapes takes you on an ear-opening journey into the science of sound and the emerging field of soundscape ecology. Embark on a mission to investigate the dramatic soundscapes of Costa Rica's rainforests, Michigan's northern woodlands, and beyond. Learn about the tools that scientists use to record and analyze sounds. Explore basic acoustics through interactive activities and incredible slow-motion footage of pulsating musical instruments, vibrating vocal chords, and slobbering "raspberries." DISCOV ERING DINOS with Royal Tyrrell Museum Explore the Royal Tyrrell Museum of Palaeontology's world-famous Dinosaur Hall! This tour introduces young participants to the science of palaeontology and to different dinosaurs that lived in ancient Alberta. Each stop explores a different curriculum concept like carnivores and herbivores, predators and prey, or plants and the ancient environment. DEEP SE A - STR A NGE A ND M YSTERIOUS CRE ATURES with Ocean Wise How deep is deep? The deepest place in the ocean we know of is about 11 km (36,200 ) deep! How do animals survive in the dark and under high pressure? How do they hunt? What do they eat? Explore cool facts of the deep sea and learn about the adaptations of the sea creatures inside with an Ocean Wise Educator. Participants will discuss the importance of ocean exploration and ways for citizens to help uncover the ocean mysteries.
