Fifteen First Nations communities across New Brunswick were invited to participate and bring forward youth delegates to discuss issues centred around education, social justice, the environment, and health and wellness. The students of Riverview High were invited as observers to learn from First Nations youth. Some even had the opportunity to join student-led workshops including Indigenous literature circles, comic-making to share Indigenous history, and paddle-making. As part of the closing ceremony, students were then asked to present their calls to action to mobilize change in their communities and beyond. Raven's United First Nations Youth Summit was exceptional in that it centred the voices of Indigenous communities. This approach to relationship building and collaboration was a powerful step towards reconciliation. " The importance of this summit is not to be underestimated. We must continue this effort to bring youth together to share, problem solve, listen, and understand each other."
