Janine Snell created and produced
a one-hour talent show featuring
artists and entertainers on
the autism spectrum. With an
audience of approximately 1,500
people, the first annual Spectrum
Showcase Talent Show engaged
a diverse community of varied
ages and ethnic backgrounds.
The talent show featured four
performers and four emcees,
shining the spotlight on creative
voices that do not often have the
opportunity to take centre stage.
The event was part of the annual
family autism walk and festival
hosted by Autism Speaks Canada.
" The goal was to recognize
those on the autism
spectrum in the art
community. To give them
a platform and audience
to perform for. The impact
of this event has led to
other groups coming
together to help with the
expansion of this program
into the next year!"
