12 # R I S I N G Y O U T H C O M M U N I T Y I M P A C T A Letter From Our Executive Director The stories featured in this inaugural #RisingYouth magazine issue are examples of how emerging leaders from coast to coast are creating opportunities for their communities to thrive. On behalf of our #RisingYouth team at TakingITGlobal, I would like to commend each and every one of our grantees for their courage, initiative, determination, and creative approaches to solving complex challenges. These unique expressions of community service projects demonstrate the power of individual and collective contributions that shape our society and how we can all come together in ways that improve neighborhoods and nations. When I co-founded TakingITGlobal as a teenager 20 years ago with Michael Furdyk, we could only imagine what the world would be like if all sectors of society invested in the leadership potential of young people. We would like to thank the Canada Service Corps for making this fund a priority and dedicating resources to allow our network of Impact Partners and Youth Engagement Activators across the country to collaborate in helping so many ideas to grow. We would like to invite leaders of organizations, families, and networks to continue nurturing youth-led projects and to celebrate our over 2,500 grantees! JE NNIFE R COR R IE RO February 2020
