102 # R I S I N G Y O U T H C O M M U N I T Y I M P A C T King's Meadow Residence Society is a group home to nine adults with intellectual disabilities. Breanna Kehoe and the staff at the home used the $250 #RisingYouth grant to host a garden party for family and friends of the residents – complete with games, delicious food, and a live band for entertainment! In fact, some of the residents even got up on stage to sing and dance with the band members, bringing a smile to everyone's face! But that wasn't all! The summer students at King's Meadow Residence Society presented each resident with achievement awards to recognize their different contributions to the home, including the Dedication Award, the Energizer Bunny Award, and the Mr. Manners Award. These awards made each resident feel special and proud of their achievements and quirks. " I believe the biggest success achieved through the Garden Party was having community members and the resident's family and friends see into the lives of these nine individuals. They got to witness the joy they bring to the community and their ability to throw a great party. It was really great to watch the quiet residents come out of their shells when having conversations with people they met in the comfort of their own home."
