#RisingYouth grantee
Mandy Penney organized
#RisingYouthpreneurNL, a two-day
conference designed specifically
for youth between the ages
of 15 to 35 with disabilities to
learn about entrepreneurship.
During #RisingYouthpreneurNL,
youth with disabilities had the
opportunity to learn the steps
to starting a business, as well as
resources and supports available
to them. Mandy even created a
toolbox for each attendee to take
these resources home with them!
Equally significant, businesses
and organizations who presented
also had the opportunity
to learn from the youth of
the importance of making
their products, services, and
programming accessible. It was
a great networking opportunity
for youth, entrepreneurship
and employment organizations,
and business owners to connect
and learn from one another.

events! I made some great
connections in the business
community, gained clarity
about my own business
idea, and got some ideas for
future events. In the future,
I would offer this event to
all persons with disabilities
regardless of age."
