What could be better than a day
at the zoo to bond and create
connection? #RisingYouth
grantees Dylan Jaillet and
Courtney Ruff organized a field
trip at the end of the school
year inviting both students with
disabilities and those without
to increase connections that
don't often happen everyday.
They used their grant funds to
pay zoo entrance fees, arrange
transportation, secure adult/
teacher support, and even
provide lunch for everyone!
" Our project allowed students
with disabilities to enjoy
a day at the zoo and spend
time with peers. Many of
these students have an
adult present in their lives
all day long. This project
promoted independence
and fostered relationships
with all youth involved."
