50 # R I S I N G Y O U T H C O M M U N I T Y I M P A C T #RisingYouth grantee Carly Chartier hosted a moccasin- making workshop for her community of Selkik, Manitoba. Her project brought together people from across generations with participants ranging from the ages of 20 to 55. Every attendee learned new skills and even completed a finished product! At the end of the five-day workshop, all the participants were able to wear a pair of hand- made and hand-sewn moccasins! " I learned that there needs to be a voice for youth to be able to lead. Even though I was a lot younger than some of the participants involved, it was a good experience to all who participated because it showed that youth can have skills that some elders may not. And even though I am not an elder, a youth can keep traditions going."
