Using podcasting as a medium of
activism, #RisingYouth grantee
Daniella Barreto and her team
at RUDE the Podcast discuss the
concerns of young people who
are passionate about social
justice issues. Daniella used
her grant to launch, promote,
and market this brand new
podcast made for and by diverse
young Canadian millennials.
She and the RUDE team produced
five episodes covering a wide
range of challenges – from
privacy in our increasingly digital
world to racial profiling, from
cannabis legalization to issues
around allyship. This podcast aims
to cultivate deeper conversations
on what it means to fight for an
inclusive, just, and equitable
world in today's political climate.
" We've reached over 2,000 downloads and 3,000 streams of our episodes in the past
4 months since we've launched. Most of these have come from across Canada and
the United States, but we have been listened to in 20+ countries around the world.
Furthermore, parts of our episodes have been used to launch broader conversations on
identity and justice on Radio-Canada, CBC Podcast Playlists and the Huffington Post."
