126 # R I S I N G Y O U T H C O M M U N I T Y I M P A C T In partnership with the Dance Ability Movement, an organization creating opportunities for individuals of all abilities to experience the arts, #RisingYouth grantee Cooper DuPré used his grant to raise awareness about inclusive and accessible programming. He hosted a one- day youth leadership gathering aimed at informing and inspiring youth across Ontario on how they can support people with special needs in their community within local programs. The attendees took part in various training sessions on how to support people with various physical and cognitive special needs. This training was supported through the Dance Ability Movement and their occupational therapists. Experts shared real-life examples on how to find meaningful volunteer work for people with disabilities, as well as understanding the health outcomes that meaningful participation in the community has on youth with disabilities. It was a powerful opportunity for youth across the province to network and share ideas about how to advocate for inclusion in their communities! " I have learned there are more places than I thought in the community where work and volunteer opportunities exist related to the topics covered in the workshop and I plan to pursue them."
