Context & Acknowledgements The Connected North program delivers interactive live video conferencing learning experiences to K-12 students in Indigenous communities. In the past 5 years, the program has grown from 5 schools to over 50 served in our network. During the 2018-2019 school calendar year, over 1,300 sessions were delivered across subject and curriculum areas. One of the factors that increases student engagement in their learning, along with inspiring a sense of hope for the future, is having access to role models with experiences that they can identify with. TakingITGlobal developed the Connected North Future Pathways component of the program with support from the RBC Foundation. The program is focused on delivering delivering sessions with a growing network of Indigenous Student Leaders on campus at colleges and universities, along with professionals across different industry areas. In the spring and summer of 2019, our team also hosted Future Pathways Summits in Northwest Territories, Ontario and Saskatchewan to bring emerging Indigenous leaders together and reflect on how to strengthen supports for their own pathways related to education and the workplace. This report, prepared by Indigenous scholar Nicole Ineese-Nash is a summary of insights that have been gathered to share with post-secondary institutions, employers and policy makers. We are grateful to Nicole for her involvement in this process and for what she has helped to articulate as key findings. On behalf of our team, I would also like to express my sincere appreciation to all of the participants who have offered their time and shared experiences as part of their personal, educational and professional journeys. I also acknowledge the families, communities, traditional territories and ancestors that have supported and guided these individuals in their path. Special thanks to our Connected North Future Pathways team members Mitch Holmes, Lauren Butler, Dallas Pelly, Kim Dymond, Kayla Rosteski-Merasty, Michael Solomon, Michael Furdyk, Waukomaun Pawis, and Karalyn Menicoche along with Visual Story Teller Nyle Miigizi Johnston for helping throughout the various gatherings we have hosted. In the upcoming year, we look forward to continuing to expand partnerships with Indigenous leaders as Content Providers for Connected North along with helping post-secondary institutions in becoming content partners of the Connected North program so that we can offer more opportunities for Indigenous students in northern, remote communities.
