C O M M U N I T Y A D V I S O R S : A M E D I A C O L L E C T I O N 7 Community Advisors Program Introduction Art has the power to provoke our emotions, awaken our senses and raise awareness. When young people are provided with the tools, spaces and platforms to express and exchange ideas, experiences, current realities and future possibilities we generate opportunities for shared growth and strengthened communities. Over the past decade, TakingITGlobal has partnered with Adobe on a range of programs to nurture creativity, youth voice and social impact around the world. Between 2016 and 2019, TakingITGlobal partnered with Adobe to support Project 1324. This platform gave young people more opportunities to create change in their communities by bringing them together to learn and be inspired by each other. With this goal in mind, our partnership brought about the creation of the Community Advisor program. Working with 20 emerging creatives from 10 countries, TakingITGlobal sought to amplify the voices and artistic expression of youth from around the world. Throughout the program, our Community Advisors, with the support of their host organizations, created over 500 media pieces, engaging close to 2,000 young people across the globe. This media book is a collection of some of the incredible work our Community Advisors put together throughout the program. These pieces inspired thousands of young people through the Project 1324 community and we are grateful to have had the opportunity to support them in using creativity as a tool for positive and meaningful global change. We commend each of the artists for their courage to share and express our appreciation to the families, friends and community partners involved. As you view the pages in this book, we invite you to reflect on the issues identified and how you can help to amplify the messages and creative talents of youth in your own community based on your sphere of influence.
