councils success, the provincial government has decided to continue the project for another year. Advisories encourage community members and policy makers to think about the topic question in depth. The focussed, topic-based meetings give community members a chance to ask important questions of decision-makers, in person. Advisories could be organized from a community level, up to an international level, and can also be targeted towards specific demographics to provide a diverse input on these issues. For example, Ocean Wise has youth from across Canada connect on a virtual town hall to create a national paper on plastic pollution in our oceans. Organized meetings like these can get people interested in learning about plastic pollution in Canada. By creating personalized experiences between community members and important policy makers, alongside knowledgeable environmental organizations, individuals may feel more inclined to learn more about the problem that we're facing and how they can be part of the solution. Advisories create opportunities for policy makers to collect feedback on current and future initiatives and programs regarding the protection of oceans and reduction of plastics. By knowing what a sample of the population thinks, governments can create policies that reflect the views of Canadians. This leads to more structured and thought-out plans because of the diversity of voices on advisories. Decisions will also be more well- received by the public because of their opportunity of consultation. We propose that all levels of government should have an advisory council around ocean plastics, and that it should be a requirement for all high-level positions to seek the input of community groups (including youth) on policy initiatives. Overall, we, the youth of Canada writing this paper, strongly recommend hosting advisory committees at every level to get more members of the community involved and engaged with finding the solution to ocean pollution and feel like they are making change. This means councils for municipal governments, provincial governments, and leaders at every level. Public Art Art can be used as an inspiration to encourage and reach people who are not normally included in the conversation, which leads to broader and more impactful learning. Through small displays of art, we can create an image of disaster that parallels the image of sustainability, which in turn creates understanding and knowledge for visual and hands on learners. With these tangible pieces of art we are able to reach broader circles and to show the spectrum of Canadian opinions on these issues. Art causes people to think of
