necessity in working towards eliminating those plastics. By attacking these toxic products one step at time - and appropriately analyzing the implications of these changes - we can begin to change the cultural view on plastics. We want to encourage people to begin using more environmentally ethical products such as paper and cardboard - products that will not linger in our communities longer than needed. To address the prominent and vast problem of plastic waste, we must begin with small steps that will undo the normalization of this common pollutant. Provincial Each province in Canada has different opportunities and challenges in the ways the governing bodies can implement rules, regulations, and inspire change related to single- use plastics. We intend for provinces to be provided with and then properly distribute funding for change in the areas that want to implement plausible solutions for reducing plastic consumption. Because Canada has so many diverse ecosystems and landscapes, the needs, opportunities, challenges and successes of each province can vary and be imagined in multiple different ways. We must approach policy changes with this mindset - implementation that is independent/ yet inter-dependent. This is why we feel the need of every single province to engage further and prioritize the critical issue of plastics. This means the provision of more resources and tools to educational climate organizations and more stress on the dangers of climate change. One of the critical issues with our current system is the lack of collaboration between school boards, students, average, citizens and the current ministers and other people associated with energy and environment in our provincial governments. We, the youth involved in this project, are an example of the interest of everyday Canadians in getting involved with environmental stewardship and sustainability work, with their governments and with people who have the power to create greater change. Having youth and communities behind the climate change actions in our provinces will empower the people of Canada to go above and beyond. Support letters from Premiers for projects and organizations will help encourage not only students who take part in them but the community involved. The provincial level needs to distribute funding from the Senate and offer support for individual municipalities to advance their sustainable goals. Being more responsible for the waste we produce can not only help to keep our local communities cleaner and safer, but will also help to change the mindset and attitude towards this global problem.
