6 Message from the Board of Directors Ron Mitchell President, Board of Directors, TakingITGlobal Senior Vice President, Marketing Fujitsu America On behalf of TakingITGlobal's Board of Directors, I am delighted to present the 2009 Annual Report. While 2009 was an unprecedented year of mixed challenges and economic uncertainty for all, TakingITGlobal rose to the challenge. With focused leadership, democratic collaboration, and solid execution on strategic priorities, our team skillfully navigated the turbulence. The year was prolific with milestones - from completing 3 volunteer cycles of the Multilingual Community's Online Volunteering program, to realigning TIGweb.org with new strategic goals, to expanding the TIGed program to schools from over 100 countries using its educational platform in their daily lessons. In demand on the world stage, TakingITGlobal shared its expertise at over 30 conferences and events in 12 countries. Internally, the TakingITGlobal Team concentrated on clarifying and executing their key priorities. Targeted results included reframing the organization's management and structure, enlarging its volunteer base, creating a comprehensive new sponsorship package with input from the Board and Advisors, and systemizing its project management effectiveness. We wish to recognize the entire TakingITGlobal team for its agility and resilience in this exceptionally demanding year. We are grateful to all of our partners, supporters, Advisors and friends for their support and inspiration. And a personal thanks to our Board members for wholeheartedly giving of their energies in advancing this remarkable organization and cause. TakingITGlobal stands for a world where youth everywhere are actively engaged and connected in shaping a more inclusive, peaceful and sustainable world. Together, we are making it happen. We look forward to continuing this ground-breaking journey with all of you in 2010.
