When I first started reading about climate change and how big a problem it is it shook me really hard… I cried, because I wanted to do so much but then, I'm just one person. And I felt so helpless because I felt like I couldn't do anything. ( A C C R A , I N T E R V I E W ) In addition to feeling personally incapable of addressing the problem, despair and fear were often explicitly described as a result of witnessing apathy, denial, and ignorance in others, particularly public decision makers. It's discouraging when something like the election of Donald Trump happens… we thought we were moving along and then that happened… makes you question where we are at, whether things have really changed. ( C A L G A R Y 2 , I N T E R V I E W ) My biggest fear about climate change is all the people who aren't aware. ( J A K A R T A , I N T E R V I E W ) Additionally, team members from vulnerable places like Nairobi, Peru, Delhi, and Jakarta were afraid of specific local changes, such as increased smog, flooding, drought, and storms, while other team members were scared of how climate change might impact their teammates, and other people in similar or even more vulnerable regions. | 35 Y O U T H A N D C L I M A T E C H A N G E 2 0 1 8 E D I T I O N
