While overly optimistic thinking
by citizens is a common barrier
to effective action on climate
change (Markowitz and Shariff
2012), these youth express deep
and realistic concern, an active
and thoughtful hope, and strong
personal commitment.
I would like to say that there
is hope. It'll take a lot of work,
and a lot of commitment
from a lot of people, from
every corner of the globe, but
this is an issue that can be
addressed and resolved. But!
We have to take the time and
put in the effort to resolve it
ourselves. It won't go away
on its own, and if we choose
to ignore it, then it will come
back and consume us.
