Professional Development CL A SSROOM MANAGEMENT & COOPER ATIVE LE ARNING with Learn Different Teaching is a challenge when you have 30 unique learners sitting in front of you. Getting all those individuals to listen, work independently, and cooperate in groups can be a daunting task. We will examine why some students disengage, cause distractions, lack academic motivation, and what can be done to help encourage student involvement through the use of differentiated instruction, errorless behavioural management programs, and targeting student stressors. You will leave this session with practical strategies that you can implement in your classroom immediately. A SSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY & 21ST CENTURY LE ARNING with Learn Different With over 400 assistive technology products on the market, knowing what is right for your students and how to implement it within your classroom can be quite the challenge. We will discuss the unique variables (i.e. internet bandwidth) that act as barriers to effective use. You will leave this session with knowledge of various programs, soware and tools that your students can use both in and outside of the classroom. E XCEPTIONAL STUDENTS with Learn Different In any classroom, your student roster will include 2 to 5 students with severe exceptionalities. We provide specific information on a range of exceptionalities including LD's, ASD, ADHD, FASD, Gied, Executive Functioning, and OCD. Learn about the course of development for students with any of these exceptionalities, how you as a teacher could identify these exceptionalities, and what you can do to support your students in a meaningful way. You will leave this workshop with concrete strategies for student inclusion and success. MENTAL HE ALTH & STUDENT WELLBEING with Learn Different Students overall health directly impacts their ability to learn and perform. Neuroscience has shown that emotions have to be processed before learning can occur. In this session you will learn the mechanisms of stress and self regulation as well as how to identify and reduce stress in your classroom. You will leave this session with the knowledge needed to develop your own mental health toolkit that can promote student wellbeing. Staff wellbeing is also important, we can provide a separate focus on passion fatigue and how to help promote teacher wellbeing.
