Connected North is a leading-edge program that delivers interactive education services to schools in
remote communities through two-way video technology. TakingITGlobal is the program manager and
charitable partner for Connected North, in collaboration with Cisco Canada, and leads an ecosystem
of supporters and contributors who work together to make this educational resource available.
The goal of Connected North is to provide participating schools with access to virtual content that is
engaging and innovative, with the hope of increasing feelings of empowerment in school and in life.
This includes virtual guest speakers, field trips and collaborations between schools across Canada.
At the heart of the program is our commitment to an approach that holds Indigenous perspectives and
reconciliation at the center of both content and process. This includes developing culturally relevant
content where student's cultures are respected and valued. The students and educators guide how
the program will work best for their community, and First Nations, Métis and Inuit role models and
content providers are involved wherever possible, as critical sources of knowledge and inspiration.
